Ballot Counting Finished Vote To Be Certified November 24
Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says when all the ballot counting is finished and the election is certified on November 24th the turnout will be 76%. Of the 127,704 ballots sent to registered voters more than 96,000 were returned to the auditors office by election day. Because of the pandemic Ross says they've only had about half the staff doing all the work so the counting took longer than expected.
Despite the thousands of ballots returned, according to the Secretary of State Yakima County, so far, has the lowest participation rate in the state at 76.1% compared to the state rate at 84.7%.
Even though the counting of local ballots is finished the election won't be certified until November 24 when all the counting is officially over.
