Yakima County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Peterschick is hoping you'll support and effort to create a special license plate to help officers in the state of Washington. The Washington State Fraternal Order of Police is now gathering 3,500 signatures required by the legislature to authorize the FOP plate. Peterschick proceeds from the plate will go directly to support law enforcement health and wellness including mental health. Suicide is the leading cause of death for law enforcement with line of duty deaths holding the second spot with 105 deaths so far this year.
Peterschick is urging Yakima residents to sign the online petition at wafop.com.
Washington currently has the Law Enforcement Memorial plate that provides support for officers and their survivors as well as helping to maintain the Law Enforcement Memorial in Olympia.
