When the COVID-19 pandemic started testing was widespread in the Yakima Valley. Thousands of people were able to be tested but today the testing has slowed as the virus spread has slowed. Now the Yakima Health District is making at-home testing kits available. The kits are free and are being distributed at the Yakima Health District Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
The district is located at 1210 Ahtanum Ridge Drive in Union Gap. The at-home test kits are being made available so health care workers can help with COVID-19 in other parts of the state. District officials say the at-home kits require internet and email access to complete registration. And the specimans taken need to be mailed the same day.
If you don't have that access you're urged to get a test from your doctor. Results from the at-home kits are available within three days. More information is available at the Yakima Health District or at newstalkkit.com.
