Another Greenway Fire Under Investigation

Another fire near the Yakima Greenway on Saturday adding to the more than 40 suspicious fires reported on the Greenway so far this year. Yakima Fire Department Capt. Jeff Pfaff. "We've been busy on the Greenway this summer. Some of the fires are suspicious but he says others may be caused by people who simply throw a cigarette out other window of a car."
Pfaff says firefighters responded at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the Sunrise Rotary Park/McGuire Community Playground along I-82. Three people camping in the area were able to escape the flames. It was a small fire 5 to 7 acres thanks to the quick response of firefighters. Traffic in the area was backed up about an hour. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but it's added to a list of suspicious near the Greenway so far this year.
