A Nuke Bomb Drops in WA Would You Survive An Attack?

When it comes to surviving a nuclear war Washington State probably isn't the first place you'd think of staying safe. Washington is basically ground zero for a conflict between the United States and Russia if it ever actually happens. It's likely the state would be heavily damaged if not wiped off the map if a nuke war ever broke out.

ONE BIG TARGET WILL BE HANFORD BUT IT'S NOT THE ONLY TARGET

Steve Olson is the author of the book The Apocalypse Factory it gives a history of the Hanford Nuclear Production Complex located in Richland Washington. Plutonium from Hanford helped fuel the big bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. The site is decommissioned and cleanup efforts are underway.

Along with Hanford the state is also has the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world located at Bangor in Kitsap County.

SO HOW DO EVEN HAVE A CHANCE AT SURVIVAL?

knowing that we are at the heart of a nuclear attack is there any way to survive? Well the experts say probably not. But you may think you have a chance with a fallout shelter. Many in the state were built in the 1960's when people built "bunkers" on property. A fallout shelter was even built under I-5 near the Green Lake area in Seattle.
But populations grew and fallout shelters became a thing of the past.

YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE DEAD BEFORE YOU REACH A SHELTER IF YOU COULD FIND ONE

Now it's likely you couldn't make it to a shelter in time and life outside the shelter after a nuclear attack would be nearly impossible given the destruction caused by such a large explosion.
So enjoy life in Washington State and let's hope there's never a nuclear attack because not much would survive in the state other than cockroaches.
