Body Found in Yakima Police Start Suspicious Death Investigation
Yakima Police say a body was found on the former Boise Cascade Property Thursday afternoon and now an suspicious death investigation is underway.
THE MAN'S BODY WAS FOUND BY TRAIN CREWS ON THURSDAY
Train crews spotted the body near railroad tracks at about 3:15 pm Thursday and notified police. Authorities say the man appears to be in his 40's or 50's. The death investigation could find the man died of natural causes or was a victim of a homicide.
An autopsy is planned to give investigators more answers.
TWO OTHER INVESTIGATIONS ARE UNDERWAY IN THE DISCOVERY OF TWO OTHER BODIES
A new homicide investigation was started last week by Yakima County Sheriff's Office after a body was found in Toppenish earlier this year. The body was that of a person reported missing in late August.On September 8 Deputies were called to the intersection of Tule Road and Plank Road for a report of a body found in a field.
AN AUTOPSY GAVE INVESTIGATORS THE ANSWER THEY WERE LOOKING FOR
Investigators took over and and autopsy was conducted days later. The person, identified as 45-year-old Martin Baldemar Meraz of Outlook died of a gunshot wound. About a week later, the body was positively identified by dental records. In late August, the family of Meraz reported him as a missing person and today a homicide investigation is underway.
ANOTHER BODY FOUND IN MABTON IN OCTOBER IS UNDER INVESTIGATION
Detectives with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office are also looking for information about another body that was found in Mabton last month. The body found on October 24 has been identified as 25-year-old Manuel Guzman-Gomez from Chiapas Mexico. Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies found his body in the 1500 block of Bus Road. Authorities say he died of homicidal violence the reason why a murder investigation is underway.
