Washington State Patrol investigators say the driver of smaller silver or gray pickup struck and killed an 11 year old boy who was on his way to school this morning...

Witnesses say the boy had crossed Yakima Valley Highway at about the 1900 block when he was hit by a truck. Investigators say the male driver did stop. But once he checked his vehicle for damage, he got back in and left the scene. The effort to find that driver is now underway. Troopers are looking for a small Chevy pickup, likely silver or grey in color with damage to the front headlights and grill.

Neighbors say the area is known for speeders and has been considered by many as a dangerous stretch of roads for kids heading to school.
