Burien's Highline Performing Arts Center will play host to 29 of the state's most exemplary teenagers during the weekend of May 24-25 including one young lady from Yakima.

Julissa Peart, a 15-year-old from Yakima, will be among the group of girls competing for Miss Washington Oustanding Teen. The competition has been called the "Little Sister" To Miss Washington and Miss America.

The program is designed to promote scholastic achievement, creativity, positive choices and thinking of others. The competition will include an off-stage interview, a talent portion, evening gown and on-stage question.

May 24 will be the preliminaries of the competition with the finals the following night.

According a press release, Peart is a home-schooled student who is, "promoting Saving Animals One Fix at a Time: In Support of the Yakima Humane Society as her platform issue." Her talent will be performing an acrodance.

Tickets are available for the two-day event will be available starting May 1 on Brown Paper Tickets.
