On July 21 Mario Torres was shot by a Wapato Police officer at his Wapato home. The incident was investigated by the Yakima Police department and it found the two officers involved were justified in the action they took. The report has now been passed to Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic who says "no decision has yet been made in the case" But he says he will make a final decision before the end of the month.
Two officers were called to the home for a domestic incident in July. When they arrived Torres struggled with the officers and grabbed a taser from one officer and tasered him while he was shot dead by another officer. Torres died at the scene. The officers remain on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
