Yakima Police Say Gangs Are Moving West Just Like You

Why do you live in West Valley? Some say it's safer, far away from gangs and gang violence that you find on the east side of Yakima. But police say just as people are moving west, so are the gangs. They're even starting to show up in your child's West Valley schools. Sgt. Erik Hildebrand with Yakima’s gang unit tells our news partner KIMA Action News it was a year ago officers began answering a handful of calls a day about gangs roaming the streets, frightening people and tagging property near Meadowbrook. The signs of gangs aren't just showing up in the community, but in the West Valley schools as well.
