Yakima Police Investigate Discovery Of Body

An autopsy on the body of a 51-year-old man found near the Yakima Greenway is set for later Thursday.

Yakima Police say another man walking along the Greenway near 16th Avenue and Highway 12 saw the body in a small pool of water Wednesday morning and called authorities. Police identified the dead man as David Nagle of Yakima.

"We're treating it as a homicide," police spokesman Mike Bastinelli tells KIT News "But we just don't know. It could have been an accident. There's a camp nearby so the man could have been at the camp and had an accident."

Bastinelli says they believe the body had been in the area for at least a day, although it's unclear how long it had been there before being discovered.
