Yakima Firefighters Get Training on Rescuing Pets

facebook

It is no doubt a firefighter’s first responsibility is to save human lives in a fire. Today, Yakima firefighters will be trained in how to treat pets in an emergency. Yakima firefighters and other first responders will do the training at the Yakima Veterinary Clinic on South 40th Avenue. They will be training on how to treat pets for smoke inhalation. CPR and hypothermia are among other problems that pets may have in a fire or other emergency.

Firefighters say the training is important because animal care is an important factor in many family emergencies.
