Yakima did not win the All-America City competition this weekend in Denver. However, those who were part of the delegation still see the weekend as a positive. Joe Mann, who is chair of the Yakima All-America City committee had this reactiion to Yakima not winning. "I'm honored that we made the cut of 24, there were some really great cities there, that have done some amazing things. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get it, but it was still a pretty exciting weekend."

Mann says Yakima may try again next year. In 1993 Yakima was a finalist and did not win the award, but they came back in 1994 to win. Mann is hopeful that history will repeat itself next year.   This year's winners were; Independence, Ore.; Brush, Colo.; San Pablo, Calif.; Montgomery, Ala., Chelsea, Mass; Brownsville, Texas; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Hampton, Va.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Eau Clair, Wis.
