Lots of talk about possible voter fraud in the upcoming presidential election in the news in the past couple of days. Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says there are a number of different systems in use around the country. In Yakima it's a mail in ballot system with checks in place to make sure not more than one vote in cast for each person. "That's why you sign an envelope. That's why it's in the envelope. We check every one that comes in. When we get your ballot we shut that channel. Pretty soon all the channels are closed." Ross admits that a person could create two different identities for themselves and vote two different ballots but he says so far there's been no evidence of that. He says the system in Washington State is a marriage between the voting system and honest voters. He says an effort is underway in the state legislature to increase security by requiring people to show they're legal residents in order to vote.
