My Morning News partner Lance will be off on vacation next week and I hope to take some time off after that.  Both of us wish we had a few more bucks to spend on break but neither of us will break the bank to do it.  That’s not the case for a sizeable number of our fellow Americans.

A new study reveals twelve percent of Americans are willing to forego paying their bills to be able to go on vacation, with four percent even willing to skip a mortgage or rent payment.

Experts say it's important to spend money on your passions while at the same time cutting back on things you don't care as much about but they say you should never not pay your bills.

1,500 Americans were asked about their ideal vacation and what they're willing to sacrifice in order to travel. It revealed that across all age demographics, financial security, or lack of it, was cited as the number one obstacle to taking a vacation. Common vices people say they'd give up in order to take a vacation: alcohol, cigarettes or coffee.

Others said they'd be willing to downgrade their personal technology if it meant they could get away. (Fox
