While the numbers have slowed whooping cough is still a big problem in Yakima county and across the state. Marianne Patnode with the Yakima county health district says the push to vaccinate against the disease did help slow down the number of cases being reported this past summer and now in this fall. 447 cases have been reported in Yakima county so far this year. The most in county history and more than 44 hundred cases have been identified statewide.  Patnode urges all adults to get the whooping cough vaccine, especially if you're going to be around small children during the upcoming holiday season.
