Sunday is Mother's Day and with women making up roughly half of the American labor force, WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2015’s Best & Worst States for Working Moms.

In order to help ease the burden on an underappreciated segment of the population, WalletHub - the leading personal finance social network- analyzed the attractiveness of each of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia to a working mother.

Wallet Hub looked at median women’s salary, female unemployment rate, day care quality rankings and more and

they determined Vermont, Minnesota and Wisconsin were the best states for mom.  Mississippi, South Carolina and Louisiana –not so much!

Washington State made the top ten at number six--so maybe you can get away with saying your gift is  “hey, at least we live in Washington State !”

Living as a Working Mom in Washington (1=Best; 25=Avg.)

  • 17th – Ratio of Female to Male Executives
  • 7th – Median Women’s Salary (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
  • 22nd – Female Unemployment Rate
  • 8th – Parental Leave Policy Score
  • 9th – Length of the Average Woman’s Workday
  • 15th – Percentage of Single-Mom Families in Poverty
