Union Gap city officials are meeting this week talking about beefing up security after the fight at city hall last week between a defendant and a guard. Michael Garza appeared before a Yakima judge Friday. Prosecutors say Garza's attempt to escape included an effort to grab the guard's gun, which led to gunshots fired in the court's bathroom. The incident has put security at Union Gap's Municipal Court back at the top of concerns for the city and Judge Bob Northcott. He tells our news partner KIMA Action News two guards are expected to work the courtroom this week. The suspect, Michael Garza is facing a list of charges from that brawl, which includes felony assault, disarming an officer, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest.
