Two men were burned in a fire early Tuesday morning in the 300 block of Maple Street in Yakima.

Firefighters were called to the home just after midnight. When they arrived they were told someone was inside. They searched and didn't find anyone, but they soon learned two men burned in the fire had driven themselves to a Yakima hospital.

A 38-year-old man received second- and third-degree burns over 30 percent of his body and a 22-year-old man suffered second- and third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body. Both men were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for their burns.

Fire crews found the fire in a small basement section of the house. The cause is under investigation.

Seven people lived in the house and are now staying with family or friends.
