Humor can be a very national thing. What's funny here in the U.S. might not be funny in Great Britain. When "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson" reruns were shown in the U.K., they didn't do well because so many of the jokes were about American and Californian experiences The same could be said for British humor not making Americans laugh.

One British comedian who did very well in the United States was Benny Hill. Why? Because his brand of humor was funny anywhere.
