From San Francisco, The Tubes are a rock band founded in 1969 as a combination of two bands that originated in Phoenix, Arizona. They really hit their stride in the late 1970s and early 1980s using on stage theatrics and punk elements in their performances. They still perform and tour today.

Their 1981 album "The Completion Backward Principal" spawned two great hits, "Sushi Girl" and this video's song.
