I was just about ten years old when Marilyn Monroe died but I certainly remember what a big deal she was and what a big deal her passing was for Hollywood and the nation.  This fall her fans will be flocking to the City of Angels many of the late sex symbol's personal items are set to hit the auction block.

I’m a fan but not enough of a fan that I feel compelled to own a piece of Monroe history.  Still, People magazine reports Julien's Auction House of Los Angeles will be selling her fur coats and stoles, a tube of lipstick from 1947, personal notes, a brown alligator handbag and more.

Curators promise the collection will give a "most intimate glimpse of the screen legend" when everything hits the auction block on November 19th and 20th.  As for me, I’ll cue up a copy of Elton John’s Good-bye Norma Jean and recall the fun of all those old films and the sadness of the life of the world’s first and biggest sex symbols!
