Space is limited.  When you hear that you think one of two things.  Either it’s a really cool event and space will in fact be limited –or-- the organizers are just saying that in hopes of driving a crowd by increasing interest through a sense of exclusivity.  Well, when it comes to the Yakima Kids’ Fish-In event, space IS limited and it really IS a cool event! The fun will take place Saturday, April 25, at the Yakima Greenway's Sarg Hubbard Park Reflection Pond.  Space is limited to 1,000 kids and they will sell out.

Registration forms are available at the Yakima Greenway Foundation office or the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, http://yakimagreenway.org/fishingKids.htm.  Organizers say to register by April 15 to reserve your T-shirt size.  Registration deadline is April 23 unless full.

I took the Gator (daughter Kate)  their last year and it was great…she was a little sad that she didn’t catch a fish but there was a couple of bites and lots of excitement.  Fish-In is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the sport of fishing guided by experts and volunteers who will stock the pond with 5,000 rainbow trout.  Bait is provided.  Fish will be cleaned and bagged on ice, ready to take home.  They even provide you a couple of trout recipes.

Fishing times are in increments from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and the cost is just $10.00 per child which includes a take home rod and reel!
