A Former West Valley graduate who's now a Fort Worth Texas police officer is recovering after he was seriously injured in a shooting with one of two suspects that started after a car chase earlier this year.
The officer, Matt Pearce, who was was shot multiple times is now back at work. He's in a desk job until he fully recovers.
Pearce has been an officer in the department since 2009 and is part of the the fugitive unit. Authorities say the shooting happened after the vehicles stopped and a gun battle erupted. The suspects were father and son. The father, 43-year-old Ed Russell Mciver Sr. was found dead at the scene. His son, 21-year-old Ed Russell Mciver Jr. was found and arrested a short time after the shooting. Both face charges of attempted capital murder among other charges.
