Yakima School Board to Dip into Reserves and No Programs Cuts

The Yakima School board has decided to dip into reserves and not cut programs or staff to balance a budget shortfall. A report from the Yakima Herald Republic said that the board voted last night to take over $17 million from its reserves at just over $4 million, which is below the 3 to 5 percent the board like to likes to keep. District revenues are down because of a drop in enrollment, and expenses continue to rise.
