Major Roadwork In Yakima Next Week Slowing Commutes

Drivers are being encouraged to avoid the intersection of 5th Avenue and Tieton Drive most of next week while a grind and overlay project is underway.

From next Monday, July 11th through next Thursday, July 14th, the intersection will be closed to traffic each day from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm

44 Hours a Year! Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Workers spent 4.8 billion hours slowed or stuck in traffic due to congestion during 2009, according to a recently released report from the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M. That was an improvement over 2006, when a record 5.25 billion hours were wasted. But it still equates to an average of 34 extra hours per year on the road.
