    One Victim Alive and One Dead in Separate Incidents, More Briefs

  • Yakima Police are investigating a fatal stabbing this morning.

    Officers were called to a tire store in the 1400 block of South First St. for a car in the building. When they arrived they found the car inside the building with a man inside who had been stabbed multiple times.

    The 21-year-old victim was taken to a Yakima hospital where he died. Police say he was likely stabbed in a parking lot on the west side of the street then drove across the street and into the building where he was found just after 1:00 a.m. Monday.

    No arrests have been made and the victim has not been identified.

  • Yakima Police are investigating a shooting on the 100 block of South First St. and Chestnut Ave. reported at about 2:00 a.m. Friday.

    Officers found a 42-year-old man who had been shot in both legs as well as a suspect vehicle fleeing the area. Police stopped the vehicle along I-82 near union gap.

    Five people were in the car and but only one suspect was arrested.

    The victim is recovering this morning at a Yakima hospital.

  • Yakima County Sheriff's deputies have been busy in Idaho this week.

    Detectives searching for a missing Toppenish woman say they found the van belonging to 30-year-old Estela Rios-Gonzalez in a McDonalds' parking lot in Boise, Idaho.

    Authorities say her boyfriend checked into a Boise hotel alone three weeks ago but has not been seen since then.

    Gonzalez was last seen in the first week of October leaving Legends Casino with Garcia.

    Deputies are also still actively looking for Garcia and Gonzalez today.

  • The County Auditor's office is saying that 15 percent of the 107, 000 ballots sent to Yakima County voters have been returned.
