Sunnyside Man Sentenced in Toddlers Death

Six years and seven months in prison. That was the sentence handed down to a Sunnyside man accused of causing the death of a 2-year old boy left in his care.

Yakima County Superior Court Judge Ruth Reukauf handed the sentence 21-year old Juan Lopez.  He was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of his girlfriends 2-year old son.

Lopez told police that he hit the boy out of anger and sleep deprivation. Lopez was 18 year old at the time of the boys death.
