Officials in the cities of Union Gap and Sunnyside are set to talk about marijuana tonight during separate meetings.

As cities up and down the valley consider what they will do with pot sales and distribution under the state's legal marijuana law, city officials in Union Gap and Sunnyside are getting closer to making final decisions.

City staffers in both areas will bring recommendations to city leaders tonight. Both councils could either take a vote and allow or bar retail sales and production, or put off the decision.

The Sunnyside City Council is set to meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Sunnyside Law and Justice center and the Union Gap City Council meets at 6 p.m. in the former Union Gap City Library.

The city of Yakima voted to ban retail sales and production within city limits. Yakima County Commissioners have not made a decision about the law in the unincorporated areas of the county.
