Sunfair Parade Picks Miners Burgers Owners For Grand Marshals

The owners of Yakima's Miners Drive In will be the Grand Marshals in this year's Yakima Sunfair Parade set for Saturday, September 21st. Lee and Lois Miner of Yakima are second generation owners of the famous Miners Burgers Restaurant in Union Gap. The two have been married for more than 60 years. They are both very involved in operations of the restaurant, with Lois focusing on administration, scheduling and accounting functions, while Lee is more involved with personnel. When I asked him what keeps a good employee around, he said, “We treat them right, pay them right, and appreciate them. And we teach them The Miner Way, which means, to stay with it until the job is done.” In addition, the Miners are very supportive of local youth sports programs and the 4-H Club of Yakima.This year’s parade, the 52nd Annual, will be held on Saturday, September 21st, starting at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Yakima.
