14th District State Representative Charles Ross will not seek another term in the State House. Instead the 42 year announced today that he is going to run for Yakima County Auditor. Ross says he's leaving the State House to spend more time with his family.  "I don't want to be a weekend dad for almost half the year.  That's why I made this decision."

Ross has been a State Representative for 8 years. Before that, he was a member of the Naches Town Council for 10 years and served as Naches Mayor for 8 years.

Many Yakima County elected officials have endorsed Ross for Auditor.  Yakima County Commissioners Mike Leita, Rand Elliot and Kevin Bouchey, Yakima County Prosecutor Jim Hagerty, Yakima County Clerk Kim Eaton and Yakima County Auditor Jack Hawkins.

Ross says "these are elected officials who know what the job requires. I am glad to have their support"

Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley is considering a run for Auditor, but has yet to make a formal announcement.
