With the November election around the corner some people may be alarmed by reports of Arizona and Illinois election systems being targeted for a breach, that Russians are suspected of hacking American e mails, and that campaigns on the left and the right speak of “rigged” elections. Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says there's a reason why voting in the state is paper based.
"Meaning your that your ballots are run through machines that tabulate them but the system is completely stand alone." In other words the system isn't connected to the internet or any other computer system that could be hacked. And Ross says he doubts that voting will ever be available on the internet at least not anytime in the near future.
Military and overseas ballots will be sent out on September 23. Ballots for everyone else will be sent out on October 21 for the November 8 General Election.
