Shots Fired Downtown Killing One

A large fight on Sgt. Pendleton Way turned deadly Thursday night after it escalated involving gunfire.

Yakima Police received multiple calls about an altercation, but before they responded shots were fired and they found two males injured. One was 22 years old and the other 19.

The 22-year-old had shots to his chest and was moved to Regional Hospital where he died. The 19-year-old was also moved to Regional where he is still under hospital care.

Officers from Selah, Moxee, the state patrol and county sheriffs all helped Yakima Police. Numerous people were brought into YPD for questioning.

Identities are being withheld while police are still investigating. They are not sure if a concert in the area might have contributed to the situation.
