Sheriff Recalls Sgts. Back On The Road

This is the email sent to the sheriff's staff announcing the recall of sergeants.

"Due to the fact that we continue to run approx. 1 % under budget and Chief Thompson was able to secure the grant from Legends for our three radio consoles I am able to recall Towell, Udell, Sanderson to sergeant effective this date. The money available is sufficient to carry the promotions through 2012 unless the economy worsens or other unforeseen situations occur.

Judd Towell and Cory Sanderson will be back in Patrol as sergeants effective this date.

Bob Udell will remain in the Detective Bureau as sergeant to clean up cases then he will go back to Patrol when Deputy Bartleson is ready to operate on her own, approx. Sept 1st. She is making good progress but it won’t be rushed.

Bill Splawn will stay in the Detective Bureau. He will be recalled to sergeant when Udell transfers out and stay in Detectives as sergeant on temporary assignment until Dec 31st to clean up cases which include three homicides.

Brad Martin, next on the detective list, will move to the Detective Bureau when Udell leaves.

The Detective Bureau Sergeant position will be advertised in October and filled January 1, 2012.

The numbers in Patrol and in the Detective Bureau will remain the same.

It was unanimous from Stew, Dave, Brian and I that this was the best use of available funds. Reinstating our first level leadership in Patrol revealed itself as a top priority and absolutely essential as we look for new strategies to move the Sheriff’s Office forward in spite of many obstacles.
