Today is the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and the Yakima Fire Department is holding a special ceremony at the Yakima Convention Center.

Capt. Tom Snyder says they'll be remembering those who were killed in the attacks including hundreds of police officers and firefighters.

Snyder tells KIT News, “we’re just going have a silent ceremony of the event of what happened. Just pay our respects in silence.”

The captain also says whether it is a small house or a large high rise one thing will never change and that is if someone is inside firefighters will risk lives to save lives.

The ceremony is set for 9:00 a.m. this morning in the parking lot of the Yakima Convention Center.
