Selah Man Accused of Causing Death of Toddler

A Selah man is in custody in connection with the death of his girlfriends 23 month old daughter. 22 year-old David Holbrook appeared in Yakima County Superior Court this afternoon and was told he will face a charge of manslaughter.  His bail was set at one million dollars.   Selah Police say Holbrook was watching his girlfriends child when he threw the toddler up in the air and the child hit its head on the ceiling.   Court documents show that Holbrook admitted to investigators that his "reckless" actions  caused the baby's death.  Police say Holbrook delayed calling 911 and instead spoke to a friend first and he lied to investigators before giving them the whole story.   The incident took place in an apartment last night in the 200 block of Jim Clements Way.  The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
