The Rock Creek Fire burning on the Naches Ranger District has grown to 940 acres with 20 percent containment. Spokesman Howard Hunter says more than 400 firefighters are battling the flames. He says today they're working to complete fire lines around the blaze. "We have held the containment lines and were are burning out on the edges to keep it in check." He says the priority is to complete one last perimeter on the fire Today. They're hoping for full containment on or before the 25th of the month.
No word on what caused the fire. A level two evacuation notice has been reduced to a level one meaning residents need to be ready to leave. That Level One evacuation remains in effect for people residing East of State Route 410 from just South of Cliffdell to Forest Road 1701.
