No life vests were worn by 6 people who had to be rescued from the Yakima river yesterday after thier raft overturned in the river yesterday afternoon near near the former mill property. 2 people were able to make it to shore but 4 others were left stranded on a rock bar. The Yakima County Sheriff's Office water rescue unit responded and rescued the 4 people. 2 were taken to waiting ambulances with bumps and bruises. Officials say the strong current and debri in the water caused the raft to overturn in the river.
