A public market and business incubator; two things Yakima City officials are exploring as part of the downtown redevelopment plan.

Dave McFadden, President of the Yakima County Development Association New Vision, says they have hired consultants and are now looking for the best place to create the incubator kitchen and public market downtown. He says they are now talking with food-based entrepreneurs.

Folks that make food products to gauge their interest and potential capacity to develop a food oriented incubator public market.

McFadden says it will be a place where entrepreneurs can grow a business.

The city has already held an informational meeting as it tries to gauge support for the incubator and the public market. Two surveys are being taken right now on the city of Yakima website at yakimawa.gov.

Mcfadden says they hope to finish the study this fall and possibly move forward early next year.
