Pediatric Obesity Is a Yakima Problem, But Help Is Coming — Dave’s Diary
The vision of a chubby little baby can warm your heart. But a chubby adolescent can break your heart when you consider all the potential health and emotional issues being seriously overweight can bring.
Pediatric obesity is a serious issue in Yakima County. So much so that registered dietitians with the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) are teaming up with other local health care professionals to begin a community conversation on dealing with the problem of childhood obesity.
The first gathering, “Healthy Children, Healthy Yakima,” is planned for Wednesday (June 3) from 6-8 p.m. at the Yakima ESD office, 33 S. Second Ave.
Community leaders and health care pros are encouraged to attend. For more information about this event, contact Dawson Amerman at dawsona@yvfwc.org
