Great news for fans of the Giant panda Bear and that’s just about everybody, isn’t it?  Thanks to a increase habitats throughout China from 2004 to 2014, the giant panda population has risen 17 percent. That gain is enough for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)  to take the cuddly creature off of its endangered species list. USA Today says the giant panda is now classified as "vulnerable."

Meanwhile the news isn’t nearly as encouraging for Africa’s giant primate, the eastern gorilla.  The International Union says things are getting worse for the beasts.

The eastern gorilla is a tragic victim of African civil wars and hunting and as a result the Eastern gorilla has been downgraded and is now classified as "critically endangered."

Also on that list are the Leatherback Turtle, the Sumatran Tiger and the Black Rhino.
