“Operation Cul-de-sac” to Help Fight Crime

kima

Large concrete barriers are the newest crime-fighting tool in Sunnyside. New signs installed Thursday turn drivers away from a familiar path, as concrete blocks on South Hill road now create a dead end.

City officials are calling it “Operation Cul-de-Sac.”

Sunnyside City Council members say blocking the street is supposed to block criminals on the run. In Sunnyside, thousands of cars go down Saul and South Hill roads every day. These roads were never meant to be main arterials. If successful, city leaders say cul-de-sacs could make it to other parts of the city as well.
