Ohana Mammography Center Wins Major Award

‘Ohana Mammography Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

‘Ohana is the only breast imaging center in Central Washington to have earned this designation which recognizes breast imaging centers accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

“This designation recognizes ‘Ohana’s continued efforts to ensure our patients have the best technology available to them, administered by experienced and well-trained professionals,” said Nancy Roehr, manager at ‘Ohana.

Thanks to community support, ‘Ohana has been able to upgrade technology in recent years decreasing the amount of imaging time for patients and reduces radiation exposure while still providing sharp, digital images with excellent contrast and consistency.

“Diagnosing and treating breast cancer requires teamwork, and having highly skilled people and the best technology be part of that effort is critical,” said Dr. Vicky Jones, a breast medical oncologist and medical director at North Star Lodge. “You need a center of excellence, and ours starts at radiology and continues through treatment.”
