Officials Say Body Found Outside Wapato Indicates Murder

Authorities began a murder investigation Monday after a body was found in a remote part of Wapato this weekend.

A couple of hunters found the remains of 29-year-old Omar Alberto Vargas-Cortez on Sunday outside Wapato. The coroner has ruled the death a homicide.

Deputies say the body had been badly damaged by animals and had been there for some time.
