There were some positive signs for Yakima and Klickitat counties from the most recent "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The Washington Traffic Safety Commission says officers arrested fewer people in Yakima and Klickitat counties in comparison to 2012, but more in Benton and Franklin counties, for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) during the emphasis patrols.

From Nov. 27, 2013 to Jan. 1, 2014 local police, sheriff deputies and state troopers arrested 179 drivers for DUI in Yakima and Klickitat counties. Yakima and Klickitat counties during the same time period in 2012, officers on routine and extra patrols arrested 206 people.

Benton and Franklin counties saw 122 motorists caught in 2013 in comparison to 110 people for the same time period the previous year.

Law enforcement officers arrested 2,723 drivers statewide.
