Yakima Police say they have few leads and no suspects in a drive by shooting Saturday that took the life of a 28-year-old man from Yakima. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says Eddie Abrams died after being shot in the 800 block of East Spruce Street. He says police investigated several drive by shootings last week in East Yakima."So we don't know if they're connected or not but usually with these types of shootings there's some type of gang involvement."
Police say Abrams was walking down the street at about 9:00 p.m. Saturday  when a car drove up and someone fired multiple shots that struck and killed Abrams. A friend walking with Abrams was able to move out of the way and avoid being shot. That person however could not give police a description of the suspects or suspect vehicle. Detectives are investigating Today hoping to make an arrest.
It's the second murder of 2017 for the city. The first was reported January 20 when a 32-year-old man from Grant County was found dead in his car at Sarg Hubbard Park. No arrest has been made in that case.
