If President Donald Trump is looking for proof that illegal citizens voted in the presidential election he may want to check out the state of Washington where there's no requirement to prove citizenship to get a drivers license. Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says lawmakers are now considering automatic voter registration when people get a drivers license. But Ross says "lawmakers have been concerned about that for years because there's no way to check."
To check citizenship status that is. Currently when a person gets a drivers license they're asked if they want to register to vote. But there's no proof needed to sign up to vote or get the license.
Lawmakers are now considering legislation by the Secretary of State that would require citizenship verification to get a state drivers license to make sure non-citizens aren't voting in elections.
