The city of Sunnyside has decided to hold off on allowing retail marijuana sales and production while the city of Union Gap has said no sales. Both city councils met last night and heard from staff and those for and against retail sales.

In Sunnyside where a moratorium is in place, the City Council decided to hold off any decision until later. In Union Gap the City Council voted 5-2 against opening retail marijuana stores. The council actually voted to continue a moratorium on sales until an ordinance to ban pot is prepared by city staffers. The ordinance should be ready for a vote in the next two weeks.
