The race to succeed retiring Congressman Doc Hastings is getting crowded. Today Yakima valley farmer and former State Agriculture Director Dan Newhouse announced he is running for the seat as a Republican. The 58 year old Newhouse, who is also a former state representative is now the fifth Republican to officially enter the race. Newhouse is not worried about the crowded field. "I fully expected it to be a crowded field and actually it's a good thing, it gives voters a choice and it will provide a good discussion of the issues."

Newhouse joins State Senator Janae' Holmquist Newbry, former NFL star Clint Didier, retired Air Force Officer and Franklin County Commssioner Brad Peck and Eprhata businessman Gavin Seim in the race. Newhouse believes his strong agriculture background sets him apart from other candidates
