Memorial Honors Three at Fairchild Air Force Base

A memorial at Fairchild Air Force Base has been dedicated to three crew members who were aboard an American tanker refueling plane that crashed last year in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan.

The Spokesman Review says more than 200 airmen and family members gathered Saturday at the base's Memorial Grove Park to dedicate a 5-foot granite pillar surrounded by small benches.

Killed in the KC-135 crash were Capt. Victoria A. Pinckney of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Capt. Mark T. Voss, of Boerne, Texas; and Tech. Sgt. Herman Mackey III, of Bakersfield, California.

They were members of the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane and were operating out of a U.S. air base in Kyrgyzstan that supports military operations in Afghanistan.
